Achievement FAQs

Earning achievements

To start earning achievements, first familiarize yourself with the list of earnable achievements on the Achievement Database. There you will find a brief overview of the achievement system, a list of earnable achievements organized by class, and a list of retired achievements. While the moderators will attempt to automatically award achievements whenever possible, if you are attempting to earn an achievement during a Mission, you should notify the moderators before the briefing.

Achievements have been retroactively awarded to the best of our ability; if you believe you have fulfilled the requirements of an achievement but have not received it, please see "Why don't I have X Achievement"

Viewing and displaying your achievements

To view your currently earned achievements, log in to your Profile. You will see a list of your currently earned achievements under the 'Achievements' header. You will also see a dropdown menu which will allow you to select your favorite achievement; this achievement will be displayed in the same row as your name on the Player List. Note that, at the moment, only one achievement may be publicly displayed per person at a time.

Viewing others' favorite achievements

To view other players' current favorite achievement, visit the Player List. You will see the icon of their selected favorite achievement under the 'Favorite achievement' column displayed in the same row as their name. To see the name and description of the achievement, simply hover your cursor over the icon.

Why don't most achievements have icons?

We have decided to give our members the ability to have a hand in creating the artwork for the achievement system. If you have an idea for an achievement icon, submit it to the officers at umbchvzofficers@gmail.com with the subject line "Achievement Icon Submission."

All submissions must be 100x100 pixels and, if accepted, will have a small insignia placed in the upper right-hand corner. Note that only legendary achievements can be gifs as they are, in fact, legendary! View an example here.

If your design is accepted as the achievement's icon, you will recieve the legendary achievement "Graphic Design is my Passion"!

Why don't I have X achievement?

We have tried to retroactively award achievements to the best of our ability, however, there are several achievements we were not able to award. The following list details the achievements that were not awarded, the reason they were not awarded, and how to receive them should you have fulfilled the requirements to earn them:

  • Basic class:
    • Debriefing - Many players have submitted feedback in the past, thus accurately awarding this achievement retroactively would be infeasible. As it is very easy and takes very little time to submit feedback, we would ask that you submit feedback for a future Mission to earn this achievement.
    • One of Us - It is impossible to retroactively track who has earned this achievement. As it is a relatively simple achievement to earn, we would ask that you simply earn this achievement in a future Mission.
    • Staying Alive - See One of Us
    • Patient Zero - Our web committee made this achievement automatically awarded in 2018. As it is a relatively simple achievement to earn, we would ask that you simply earn this achievement in a future Mission. The next time you earn it again, it will be automatically awarded. If you are not awarded this and earned it recently, that means you were not signed in to the mission properly. Talk to the officers to make sure you are properly signed in going forward.

  • Attendance Achievements (All classes):
    • Membership, Experienced, War Veteran, & War Expert - These achievements are auto-awarded by the server upon the player signing in to a Mission when they have attended 5, 25, 50, or 100 missions. However, due to a few minor errors, the server failed to properly track attendance until 2017. This was also recently recalculated based on our records, which gave some members drastically different results from before, and for some put them over 5, 25, 50, or 100. If you are one of these members, you will be auto-awarded your achievement the next time you are signed in to a meeting. If you have attended a Mission recently and have attended 5, 25, 50, or 100 Missions total but have not received the corresponding achievement(s), let one of the admins know at a meeting.

  • Veteran class:
2spooky - It is impossible to retroactively track who has earned this achievement. If you have fufilled the requirements for this achievement but have not been awarded it, let one of the admins know at a meeting.
    • Curtain Call - It is impossible to retroactively track who has earned this achievement. If you have fufilled the requirements for this achievement but have not been awarded it, let one of the admins know at a meeting. Note that you will likely be asked at which Mission you earned this achievement.

If you believe you have fulfilled the requirements for an achievement that is not listed above, please let one of the admins know at a meeting or email the officers at umbchvzofficers@gmail.com with the subject line "Missing Achievement X" where 'X' is the name of the achievement.

I have an idea for an achievement!

Great! You are welcome to submit achievement ideas by emailing the officers at umbchvzofficers@gmail.com with the subject line "New Achievement Suggestions." However, before you do so, please make sure your ideas follow these guidelines:

  1. The achievements are trackable/able to be verified
  2. The achievements do not violate any club rules

Also, please consolidate all achievement ideas into one email; do not spam the officers with achievement suggestions or we will stop accepting suggestions.

The 'Graphic Design is my Passion' icon is a little..

Bad? We know. The achievement committee decided it would be fun to have an ironic image for such a prestigious achievement.
